Can singing help change the world? Join a joyful four day atelier where we rehearse groove driven, pop style choral songs from the Choirs for Ecocide Law project and shape them into a mini concert. “The repertoire points to a positive legal option: an international ecocide law for nature, to protect our environment and biosphere from large scale destruction. Ida Olsonen (she/her) is a Finnish choral conductor, composer, arranger, and voice teacher. Artistic research, shared ownership, improvisation and building a safe and playful environment are recent themes in her work; she is inspired by sustainable development, and her hometown of Helsinki with its urban nature. Olsonen is known as one of the leading experts within rhythmic vocal music in Finland. She teaches choir conductors as a visiting lecturer at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki.
Olsonen is the artistic leader and founder of Musta lammas, a well-known popular music choir in Finland. The choir won the Aarhus Vocal Festival 2017 (DK), as well as the special prize for the most innovative arrangement. In a short time, Musta lammas has garnered a lot of attention, headlining festivals both abroad and nationally. Apart from her own groups, Olsonen is also invited regularly to lead workshops and coaching sessions, and writes music on commission.
