Explore voices and harmonies in joyful union while strengthening key aspects of choral singing! Through well-known songs, we will explore a wide variety of musical and vocal experiences. Rooted in contemporary a cappella, we will also touch upon elements of jazz and vocal improvisation.
A central focus of Journeys in Voice is inclusivity and accessible approaches to complex harmony singing. You will develop skills in listening, vocal blend, tuning, and harmonic awareness, while exploring how empathy and connection can shape ensemble singing. We welcome singers of all kinds who are curious about creating an expressive, compassionate, and vibrant choral sound together.
James Rose (they/them) is an international choir facilitator and vocal harmony educator from the United Kingdom, creating harmonious spaces for humans of all kinds. They lend their expertise worldwide to spaces such as A Cappella Academy (LA), Centro Científico da Voz (São Paulo), ICMP (London), Codarts' Vocal Leadership (Rotterdam) and the City of Basel Music Academy.
Rose is a veteran performer of a cappella, touring across Europe, North America and Asia with acclaimed internet sensation group Accent. The group, consisting of six accomplished singers from around the world, specialises in close-harmony jazz singing – the denser and more intricate the better. Rose is also a contributing arranger for prominent groups, choirs and bands, including The Real Group, Voces8, Take 6, Naturally 7, The Swingle Singers, and Rajaton. Alongside directing at A Cappella Academy (LA) and ICMP (London), they recently released their book of choir explorations, Journeys In Voice, published via Singergy.
