Discover the richness and diversity of Cameroonian choral music through energetic rhythms and expressive body movements. Some of Cameroon's 200 spoken languages will be used to show various authentic colors of the country's choral traditions.
Expect to learn traditional and contemporary songs from Cameroon, discover African approaches to rhythm, vocal harmony, and musical interpretation, and experience a joyful and interactive way of making music together. We welcome singers of all levels to experience a strong sense of connection, energy, and cultural sharing.
Jean Alexis Bakond (he/him) is a choir conductor and singer. Holding a Master's in Fundamental Private Law, he is passionate about music and trained in choral conducting through training sessions organized by the Friends of the Madrigal Choir of Cameroon. With the support of Vivendi Create Joy, Bakond has developed a strong focus on research as well as a proven interest in exploring diverse musical heritages.
Dynamic, curious, independent, constantly seeking innovative musical approaches, and deeply committed to musical and cultural transmission, his activities largely revolve around the compositions and arrangements he creates. He also works as the conductor of the MBOA YOUTH CHOIR and the children's choir Le Chœur des Piccoli.
In 2022, Bakond completed a two-month advanced training internship in choral conducting in Lyon. The internship gave him the opportunity to immerse himself in the conducting classes and vocal ensembles of Pascal Adoumbou, Leslie Peeters, Régis Harquel, Marine Fribourg, and Nicole Corti.
