Join us to explore rest! From the nostalgia of untouchable love in Antognini’s Come to Me, we will move to the first part of Martin’s Songs of Ariel, reflecting the unrest of Shakespeare’s spirit. Afterwards, Burkhard’s piece is mankind’s plea for rest. In response, rest comes from Andriessen, calming a lover’s longing.
Sandwiched between the next two Songs of Ariel, Mahler reflects the timeless rest of love. And finally, the perfect Rest by Vaughan Williams: “Until the morning of Eternity, Her rest shall not begin nor end, but be; And when she wakes, she will not think it long.”
